Museum ") // ") // Museum Website Main Collections Page HomeCollections Collections Welcome to the Gilley’s Online Collection Catalog. Our collection includes more than 300 carvings by renowned bird carver Wendell Gilley, who carved thousands of birds (more than 10,000 by his own count!). In addition, our permanent collection holds a complete elephant-size high-quality reproduction portfolio of Birds of America by John James Audubon and a Birds of Mount Desert Island original portfolio of lithograph prints by Carroll Sargent Tyson. Prints from both portfolios are often on view. We also have a growing collection of two- and three-dimensional works of avian art by contemporary artists, including painter and writer Gail Gibbons, printmakers Andrea Rich and Sherrie York, sculptor Don Rambadt, and carver Hank Tyler, among others. We expect to complete cataloging the collection in 2022. The carvings are almost completely cataloged, and we are adding other art from our collection along with photographs and archive materials daily. Our online catalog is based on the Digital Archive , a platform shared by a number of museums and libraries in this part of Maine which facilitates the sharing of information between different institutions.
